Cultures for Health Vegan Yogurt Starter Culture is a direct-set culture designed for preparing homemade plant-based yoghurt. It can be used with soy milk or other non-dairy milk alternatives, providing a convenient starter for making vegan cultured yoghurt at home.

Each package contains 4 individual starter packets, with one complete packet used for each batch. Unlike reusable yoghurt cultures, this is a direct-set product, meaning a fresh starter packet should be used for every new batch.

The culture contains a combination of live active bacteria, including Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus, Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Streptococcus thermophilus.

Soy milk is recommended by the manufacturer for the simplest preparation and naturally thicker consistency, although other plant-based milk alternatives can also be used.

INGREDIENTS

Organic soy milk (filtered water, organic soybeans; contains 2% or less of: vitamin and mineral blend [calcium carbonate, vitamin A palmitate, vitamin D2, riboflavin (B2), vitamin B12], sea salt, gellan gum, ascorbic acid, natural flavour), organic cane sugar, rice maltodextrin, live active bacteria (Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Streptococcus thermophilus).

Allergen information: Contains soy. Manufactured in a facility that also produces products containing soy and dairy. The manufacturer states that the product may contain trace amounts of gluten because a barley source is used as a fermentation nutrient.

HOW TO USE

For one batch, use 1 complete Vegan Yogurt Starter packet with approximately 1 quart (946 ml) of plant-based milk. Soy milk is recommended by the manufacturer.

Heat the soy milk to approximately 43°C (110°F). Add one complete starter packet and mix thoroughly.

Cover and maintain the mixture at approximately 43–46°C (110–114°F) for 6–8 hours using a yoghurt maker or another suitable appliance.

After culturing, cover tightly and allow to cool for approximately 2 hours at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 6 hours before consuming.

If the chosen plant-based milk contains no sugar, the manufacturer recommends adding 5 g of sugar per cup of milk. Sucralose and stevia should not be used as substitutes for this purpose.

This is a direct-set culture, so finished yoghurt should not be saved to start another batch. Use a new starter packet for each batch.
