Cultures for Health Water Kefir Grains are dehydrated reusable starter grains designed for preparing homemade water kefir. The packet contains traditional water kefir grains made with organic sugar and live active cultures.

Before making the first batch, the dehydrated grains need to be activated in a mixture of cane sugar and water. Once activated, the grains are separated from the finished water kefir and transferred into a fresh sugar-water mixture for the next batch.

Unlike a single-use powdered starter, these are reusable water kefir grains. With correct preparation and regular feeding, the grains can be used repeatedly and may gradually multiply.

Each package contains one 5.4 g packet of dehydrated grains. The product is gluten-free and non-GMO and provides a practical starter for preparing water kefir at home.

HOW TO USE

Activation

Use the entire 5.4 g packet for activation.

Dissolve approximately ¼ cup of cane sugar in 3–4 cups of water. Allow the mixture to cool to approximately 20–29°C (68–85°F).

Add the entire packet of dehydrated water kefir grains to the cooled sugar water. Cover the container with a coffee filter or tightly woven cloth secured with a rubber band.

Leave at approximately 20–29°C (68–85°F) for 3–4 days. Once activated, the grains should become plump and translucent. Strain the grains and discard the activation liquid.

Preparing Water Kefir

Dissolve ¼ cup sugar in approximately ½ cup hot water. Add 3 cups of room-temperature or cool water and ensure the mixture is between 20–29°C (68–85°F).

Add the activated water kefir grains, cover the container and allow to culture for approximately 24–48 hours.

After fermentation, strain out the grains and transfer them to a fresh batch of sugar water for continued use.
